Question: Why do gays and lesbians need a pride day?
Answer: For many centuries gays and lesbians have been persecuted. We have been told that somehow our love is unnatural or even evil. Even though weve come a long way, gays and lesbians are still fired from their jobs, beaten in the streets and the brunt of cruel jokes. Some people think were an abomination, but we think were just fine.
Gay Pride is our day to say, Were here. Were proud of who we are. Were celebrating ourselves, no matter what the rest of you think.
